How to Update

Step 1. Plug your phone into the computer via USB and create a new folder named “HWOTA” in the external microSD card.

Step 2. Download & rename the update files and copy them over to the new HWOTA folder you created earlier.

Step 3. Download the Huawei P10 updater tool (click here) and extract the HWOTA folder from the zip file to your desktop.

Step 4. Disconnect the USB cable and power off your phone. Next, reboot into fastboot/bootloader mode by reinserting the USB cable while holding the Vol Down key.

Step 5. Open the HWOTA folder you extracted earlier (step 3) on your computer and execute the update.bat file as administrator (Windows only).

Step 6. The updater window will appear on your display and ask you to reboot your phone into fastboot mode. As you’ve already done that (in step 4), press the Enter key to continue.

Step 7. The script will automatically replace your phone’s recovery and ask you to reboot into TWRP mode.

Simply disconnect the USB cable, power the device off by holding the Power key and then hold Volume up + Power for a few seconds to enter TWRP mode.

Step 8. Once you’ve entered TWRP, connect the USB cable to your phone again and press the Enter key twice on your computer.

Step 9. For update source selection, type 1 and press Enter.

Step 10. In the next step (update type selection), again type 1 and hit the Enter key twice.

Step 11. Your phone will automatically turn off, reboot into its recovery mode and start installing the update.

How to Update

Once you’ve entered TWRP, reconnect the USB cable, wait for a few seconds and then press the Enter key on your computer twice.

Step 9. In update source, type 1 and press Enter. Next, for update type selection, again type 1 and press the Enter button twice.

Step 10. In a few seconds, your device will automatically restart and begin update installation. You can now safely disconnect the USB cable and let the installation proceed.

2. Procedure

Step 1. Connect your phone to your computer and create a new folder named “HWOTA” (without quotes) in the external microSD card.

Step 2. Download the firmware files provided above, rename them and then copy them to the new HWOTA folder in the SD card.

Step 3. Unplug the USB cable and turn off your phone. Reboot into fastboot/bootloader mode by reinserting the USB cable while holding the Volume down key at the same time.

Step 4. On your computer, download the Mate 9 updater tool (Mega Link) and extract the HWOTA folder from it to your PC.

Step 5. Open the HWOTA folder on your desktop and execute the update.bat file as administrator.

Step 6. A command window will open up and ask you to reboot your phone into fastboot mode – you’ve already done that so press Enter to proceed.

Step 7. The tool will replace your phone’s recovery and then ask you to boot into TWRP mode.

To do that, simply unplug the USB cable and press & hold the Power key to turn off. Then reboot into TWRP mode by holding Volume up + Power simultaneously for a couple of seconds.

Once you’re in TWRP, reconnect the USB cable, wait for a few seconds and then press the Enter key on your computer twice.

Step 9. When you’re asked to select the update source, type 1 and press Enter. Next, for update type selection, again type 1 and press the Enter button twice.

Step 10. In a few seconds, your device will automatically restart and begin installing the update.

How to Update

1. For this procedure you’ll need TWRP custom recovery and an unlocked bootloader.
2. Download the firmware files provided above and transfer them to your phone.
3. Disconnect the USB cable and turn your phone off.
4. Reboot into TWRP mode by holding Vol up + Power keys for a few seconds.
5. In TWRP, take a full backup of all the partitions.
6. Next, go to Install, choose the update.zip package and confirm its installation.
7. After that install the remaining two update files (public data and cust). Remember to wipe the Dalvik cache afterwards.
8. Reboot into the system normally.

Upgrading Instructions

Step 1. Find and install the ‘Firmware Finder’ app from the Play Store.

Step 2. Open the Firmware Finder app, go to its settings and tick the “Use proxy for install” checkbox – allow the app to download & install the proxy addon when requested.

Step 3. Now go to your phone’s settings → Wifi → tap & hold the currently connected network → Modify network → Show Advanced options → Manual.

Step 4. Enter the following details in the proxy settings:

Proxy hostname: localhost
Proxy port: 8080

Step 5. Tap Save (or Connect) to exit the settings.

Step 6. Reopen the Firmware Finder app, find the full VNS-L31C432B384 firmware (preferably the MF-PV version) and send it to the firmware updater.

Step 7. Now open Settings → Updater. Once an update is available, disable proxy from the Wifi settings (Hold the current network → Modify network → Proxy → None → Save/Connect).

Step 8. After that return to the Updater and confirm the installation of the new update.

How to Update

Compatibility: Make sure you have the VTR-L09 variant of Huawei P10 that’s already running a C432 based firmware.

Step 1. Plug your phone into the computer via a USB cable and create a new folder “HWOTA” in its external microSD card.

Step 2. Download & rename the update files provided above and transfer them to the new HWOTA folder you created in the previous step.

Step 3. Download the Huawei P10 updater tool (click here) and extract the HWOTA folder from the zip file to your desktop.

Step 4. Disconnect the USB cable and power off your device. Next, reboot into fastboot/bootloader mode by reinserting the USB cable while simultaneously holding the Vol Down key.

Step 5. Open the HWOTA folder you extracted earlier (step 3) on your computer and execute the update.bat file as administrator.

Step 6. The updater window will appear on the screen and ask you to reboot your phone into fastboot mode. As you’ve already done that, press the Enter key to continue.

Step 7. The script will automatically replace your phone’s recovery and ask you to reboot into TWRP mode.

To do that, just disconnect the USB cable, power the device off by holding the Power key and then hold Volume up + Power for a few seconds to enter TWRP mode.

Step 8. Once you’ve entered TWRP recovery, connect the USB cable to your phone again, wait for a couple of seconds and then press the Enter key twice on your computer.

Step 9. In update source selection, type 1 and press Enter.

Step 10. In the next step (update type selection), again type 1 and hit the Enter key twice.

Step 11. Your phone will automatically turn off, reboot into its recovery mode and start installing the update.

Step 4. Download the Mate 9 Pro updater tool from here and extract the HWOTA folder from the zip package to your PC.

Step 5. Open the extracted HWOTA folder and run the update.bat file as administrator.

Step 6. The updater window will ask you to reboot your phone into fastboot mode – as you already did that in step 3, press Enter to proceed.

Step 7. After replacing the recovery the updater tool will tell you to boot into recovery – to do that, disconnect the USB cable and press & hold the Power key to turn it off. Next, reboot into TWRP mode by holding Volume up + Power for a couple of seconds.

Once you’re in TWRP, reconnect the USB cable, wait for a few seconds and then press the Enter key on your computer twice.

Step 8. In update source selection, type in 1 and press Enter. For update type, again type 1 and press the Enter button twice.

Step 9. In a few seconds, your device will automatically reboot and begin update installation on the patched stock recovery. You can now safely disconnect the USB cable from the device.
