How to Update

Disclaimer: As this update is currently in beta stage and is being released in multiple files, you might have trouble installing it on your phones. Moreover, this build carries bugs that can impact the usability and performance of your phone so proceed entirely at your own risk!

TWRP Method

1. Check your phone’s model number and download the appropriate update.zip and cust packages from the links provided above.
2. Copy the downloaded “update.zip” and “update_full_hw_eu.zip” files to your phone.
3. Now turn your phone off and reboot into TWRP.
4. Before proceeding, take a full backup of all the partitions and store it in the external microSD card.
5. After that, simply go to install and flash the “update.zip” package. When done, install the EU Cust package “update_full_hw_eu.zip” in the same way.
6. Finally, return to the main menu and reboot your phone normally.

Stock Recovery (dload) Method

1. Download both the zip packages available for your device model and extract them on your PC. Both these packages will give an UPDATE.APP file.
2. Connect your phone to the computer and create a new folder “dload” in the external SD card.
3. Copy the UPDATE.APP package extracted from the “update.zip” package to the newly created dload folder.
4. Now turn off your phone and reboot by holding Vol down + Vol up + Power for a few seconds to start the upgrade process.
5. Once your phone boots up, replace the UPDATE.APP package from dload folder with the UPDATE.APP package extracted from the cust package “update_full_hw_eu.zip”.
6. Finally, install this package by repeating Step 4.

TWRP Method

If you’re encountering errors with the previous method during the installation, you might still be able to install the update using a custom recovery using TWRP.

Simply copy both the update.zip and update_full_hw_eu.zip to your phone, reboot into TWRP and, after taking a full nandroid backup, install both the packages (update.zip first).

How to Update

1. Download the update.zip package from above and extract it. You’ll get a large file named UPDATE.APP.
2. Create a new folder “dload” in the external SD card of your phone.
3. Copy the extracted UPDATE.APP package to the new dload folder.
4. Take a full backup of your apps and data using the Backup app before proceeding.
5. Unplug the USB cable and turn your device off.
6. Now, hold Volume down + Volume up + Power for a few seconds to start the upgrade.

How to Update

Prerequisites: In order to be able to install this update, you need to make sure your device is already running a C432 (Europe) based firmware and has a TWRP custom recovery installed with unlocked bootloader.

1. Download all the firmware update files provided above and copy them to your phone (without extracting).
2. Turn your device off and reboot into TWRP mode by holding Volume up + Power keys for a few seconds.
3. You’re recommended to take a full backup of all the partitions and preferably save it in the external microSD card.
4. Now, go to Install and flash the three update files individually in this order:

1. update.zip
2. update_full_NEM-L51_hw_eu.zip
3. update_data_full_public.zip

When you’re done installing the update files, return to the main screen and reboot your phone normally. In case you get stuck in a bootloop, reboot into TWRP and perform a factory reset (this will erase all your data).

How to Update

Compatibility: Your device already needs to be running a C432 based firmware with TWRP custom recovery and unlocked bootloader.

2. Unplug the USB cable and power your device off.
3. Now boot into TWRP by holding Volume up + Power keys for a few seconds.
4. In TWRP, take a full backup and store it in the external microSD card.

6. Finally, reboot your phone normally into the new system.

How to Update

Compatibility: This procedure will only work on devices already running a C636 based firmware and have their bootloader unlocked.

1. Download the update files provided above and rename the cust and public packages as mentioned above.

2. Create a new folder named “HWOTA” in the external microSD card of your phone and copy the zip files to it.

3. Download the Huawei Updater tool from here and extract the zip file on your PC. You’ll get a folder named HWOTA that contains the update.bat file.

4. Now, turn your phone off and then boot into fastboot mode by simultaneously holding Volume down and inserting the USB cable (that’s already connected to the PC on the other end).

5. On your PC, go to the extracted HWOTA folder and open the update.bat file as administrator (only works on Windows).

6. A command window will open up telling you to restart into Fastboot mode. You’ve already done that so press the Enter key. The tool will now replace your phone’s recovery.

7. When it finishes, it’ll tell you to enter into TWRP mode. Do that by disconnecting the USB cable, turning your phone off and then holding Volume up + Power keys for a few seconds. When you’re in TWRP mode, reconnect the USB cable and hit the Enter key twice.

8. When it asks you the update zip source, type 1 and press Enter.

9. Next, in update type selection, again type 1 and press Enter twice.

10. Your phone will now automatically start the update installation in a few seconds. You can disconnect the USB cable once the installation starts.

How to Update

Requirements

1. Unlocked bootloader
2. Backup of all apps and data
3. A USB cable and a Windows PC with compatible ADB drivers installed

Procedure

Step 1. Connect your phone to the computer and create a new folder “HWOTA” in the microSD card. Copy the 3 firmware files (update.zip, cust package & public data package) provided above to this folder.

Step 2. Unplug the USB cable and turn your device off. Now, hold the Volume down button and insert the USB cable at the same – your phone will now enter Fastboot mode.

Step 3. On your computer, download the Huawei updater tool zip (link in Requirements) and extract the HWOTA folder from it.

Step 4. Open the extracted HWOTA folder and run the update.bat file as administrator. A window will open up asking you to reboot the phone in fastboot mode – as you’ve already done that, hit the Enter button to proceed.

Step 5. When the tool tells you to power your phone off, unplug the USB cable, hold the Power key to turn off and then reboot into TWRP mode by holding Volume up + Power for a few seconds. Once you’re in TWRP mode, plug in the USB cable again and press the Enter key on your computer twice.

Step 6. When the tool asks the update source, type “1” (without quotes) and press Enter. Next, it’ll ask you the update type, again type in “1” and press the Enter button twice.

In a few seconds, your phone will automatically reboot and start installing the update. Don’t try to interrupt it in any way (you can unplug the USB cable now though).
